Christina Mason, M.S., LPC-S
I have spent thirty years sitting with people through their hardest and most hopeful moments, and I still find it a privilege. My work is relational first: therapy that meets you as a whole person, not a diagnosis.
My story
I received my M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University in 1994, and since then I have focused my private practice on children, adolescents, and adults, with plenty of experience working with families along the way. I approach counseling relationally, drawing on coherence therapy, solutions-focused therapy, and play therapy. Together, we will figure out which approach fits you best.
I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with more than twenty years of experience. In my role as an LPC-Supervisor I coach and mentor graduate students and recent graduates who are working to become Licensed Professional Counselors. I currently serve as a Clinical Partner at Capital Area Counseling and sit on the planning committee for the Leben Play Therapy Symposium at U.T.’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
I spent my early childhood moving every few years, due to having a parent in the Armed Forces. My family settled in Massachusetts in time for my Middle School and High School years, and I stayed in the Boston area through graduate school. I moved to Austin TX after I completed my M.S. in Counseling Psychology.
I enjoy working both as a therapist and as a supervisor. I have happily settled in Austin TX and am proud that my children are native Texans.
How I approach therapy
Relational
Our relationship is the foundation: change happens in a space where you feel genuinely known.
Coherence therapy
We work with the emotional roots of long-standing patterns, not just the symptoms.
Solutions-focused
For specific, shorter-term goals, we build a clear, practical plan together.
Play therapy
For younger clients, play is the language we use to process big feelings.
Credentials & involvement
A note for tech professionals
Many of my longest-standing clients have worked in tech, especially women navigating demanding, fast-moving roles. If that is you, I understand the particular weight of high expectations, constant change, and the pressure to always have it figured out. This is a place to set that down.
